NBS Sport’s Andrew Kabuura Brings Premier League Action to Ugandan Screens

Renowned Ugandan sports broadcaster Andrew Kabuura was in London over the weekend to cover Chelsea’s 3-1 win over newly crowned champions Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Kabuura, who serves as Head of Sports Broadcast at Next Media, delivered live updates on NBS Sport and appeared on the NBS TV Live at 9 news bulletin as part of the station’s extensive coverage of the final stages of the 2024/25 English Premier League season.

The match was a significant moment in the Premier League calendar, with Chelsea giving Liverpool a guard of honour before kick-off to acknowledge their title triumph. However, the celebratory mood quickly shifted as Chelsea seized control of the game.

Enzo Fernandez opened the scoring for the Blues inside three minutes, setting the tone for a dominant performance.

The hosts doubled their lead early in the second half through an own goal by Jarell Quansah, who deflected a Palmer cross into his own net.

Despite a late header from Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, Chelsea sealed the win deep into stoppage time with a penalty from Cole Palmer, who ended his four-month goal drought in the process.

With the result, Chelsea moved level on points with fourth-placed Newcastle United, intensifying their push for UEFA Champions League qualification with three matches left in the campaign.

It’s key to note that NBS Sport is the official broadcaster of free-to-air Premier League games in Uganda.

Kabuura’s presence at the game underlined NBS Sport’s on-ground commitment to covering major sporting events involving global football powerhouses.

His coverage also comes at a time when Ugandan interest in the Premier League remains strong, with increasing investment in local sports journalism and broadcasting.

The 2024/25 Premier League season wraps up in the coming weeks, with NBS Sport continuing to provide free-to-air access to select matches for Ugandan audiences.
