Plascon has reiterated its commitment to supporting sports in Uganda, throwing its weight behind the upcoming 2025 Uganda Open Tennis Tournament, which will feature a UGX 20 million prize pool for competitors across various categories.
Speaking at the tournament’s official launch held on Wednesday at Kampala Club, Moses Kato, Head of Sales at Plascon, emphasized the brand’s enthusiasm for the evolving direction of tennis in the country.
“We’ve always stood behind sports in Uganda, and tennis is a welcome addition. We’re inspired by the new leadership and the promising work being done at all levels of the game,” Kato said.
The 2025 edition, set for May 10 to 24, will be the most inclusive in the tournament’s history, introducing categories for wheelchair tennis, juniors, and veterans.
This expansion, according to UTA reflects their broader push to open up the game to more participants across age and ability.
The total prize pool of UGX 20 million will be distributed among winners in singles and doubles events for men and women across all categories.
The tournament will take place at the Lugogo Tennis Complex and Kampala Club Limited, with both venues expected to host a record number of participants and spectators.
