Roxberry Crowned 2025 National Pool League Champions with Game to Spare

Roxberry Pool Club have won the 2025 Nile Special National Pool League title with a match to spare, after a commanding 16-4 bonus-point victory over Kireka on Sunday.

The Kiwanga-based side sealed their maiden crown in dominant fashion, bringing their tally to an uncatchable 92 points.

The result caps a remarkable season in which Roxberry so far lost just twice and drew three times in 29 outings.

Their latest display was emphatic as they led 7-3 at halftime and conceded only one frame in the second half, with Kireka’s Janan Alinga getting past Simon Lubuulwa.

Captain and top scorer Ibra Sejjemba led by example, winning all four of his frames.

Mid-season recruit Ian Kazibwe also delivered four wins, while Azali Lukomwa and Lubuulwa chipped in with three each. Joseph Kasozi added two after a rocky start.

The victory came just a week after Roxberry forfeited a game against bottom side Nakawa due to player absences, but they returned with a statement win to seal the title.

Sejjemba credited the team’s consistency and unity for the historic achievement.

“This title means everything to us,” said Sejjemba after the win.

“To seal the league before the final match shows how hard we’ve worked and how consistent we’ve been. Every player has played their part, and now we get to enjoy this reward together.”

The title win ends a two-year wait for a Central Uganda champion, with Mbale having won in 2023.

Roxberry now joins the elite list of former winners, including Skin Samona, Scrap Buyers, and Ntinda Giants.

Upper Volta secured second place after a walkover win against Scrap Buyers, who finish third.

The race for fourth place remains open between Adi’s Spot, who earned a walkover against Tororo, and Greater Mukono, who beat Corporate Shooters 12-8 thanks to standout performances from Ivan Kafuleka, Allan Kayiwa and Najib Matovu.

In the Women’s League, Mukono, already confirmed champions, wrapped up their campaign with a 16-4 win over Silverbacks.

Upper Volta also finished strong, routing Akaanya 18-2, while Samona beat She Sinkers 16-4. The league will officially conclude next month with the annual awards gala.
