Ssenyondo Pays Tribute to Kasozi After Kitara Exit: “My Biggest Achievement Came Under His Leadership”

Brian Ssenyondo has paid glowing tribute to outgoing Kitara president Deo Kasozi, crediting him for the most successful chapter of his coaching career.

Reacting to Kasozi’s decision to step aside after a three-year tenure, Ssenyondo—who led Kitara to their first-ever major trophy and a spot in continental football—praised the former president’s vision and faith in him.

“My biggest achievement in Ugandan football came at Kitara,” Ssenyondo said. “I’m grateful to Mr. Kasozi for trusting me with the opportunity. His leadership will surely be missed by everyone at the club.”

Kasozi appointed Ssenyondo during his term and worked closely with him through what became a historic rise for the Hoima-based club.

Their partnership saw Kitara claim a landmark title and earn qualification for continental competition for the first time in the club’s history.

Kasozi also acknowledged Ssenyondo’s impact, describing him as “one of the best coaches” he has worked with.

Now head coach of Uganda’s U17 national team, Ssenyondo continues to build on his coaching profile.

Recently named Coach of the Year—a recognition he admits surprised him—Ssenyondo is preparing the Cubs for the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.

“I was overwhelmed—I honestly didn’t expect it,” he said of the award. “We are preparing well, and Ugandans should expect a good representation.”

The FIFA U17 World Cup is scheduled to run from November 3 to 27, 2025.
