Mbappe a Doubt for Real Madrid’s Club World Cup Opener

From electric atmospheres in Miami to sellout crowds in Los Angeles, fans from across the globe have embraced the competition’s spirit, uniting under the banner of football.

“This is exactly what the FIFA Club World Cup was created for: a world-class stage where new stories are told, new heroes emerge, and club football fans feel part of something bigger,” – FIFA President Gianni Infantino

Record Crowds and Global Celebrations

60,927 fans packed Hard Rock Stadium in Miami to watch African giants Al Ahly FC take on Inter Miami CF in the tournament opener on 14 June.

Just one day later, a stunning 80,619 spectators filled the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles for a high-profile clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético de Madrid, the largest crowd either team has played in front of during their 2024/25 campaigns.

Across host cities, celebrations have spilled into the streets, from Times Square to South Beach, turning the tournament into a true cultural and sporting spectacle.

Global Audience, Global Impact

Fans from over 130 countries have purchased tickets, with the United States leading the way, followed by Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Canada, France, Japan, Germany, the UK, and Portugal. The competition has quickly become one of the most globally diverse events in FIFA history, featuring:

20 clubs from around the world, players from 81 countries, 63 total matches across 3.5 weeks.

The final match will be held on Sunday, 13 July at the iconic MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey.

Matches to Watch: The Biggest Clubs Still to Play

The momentum is only building, with several blockbuster matchups still ahead:

  • Real Madrid CF vs CF Pachuca, Al Hilal, and FC Salzburg
  • FC Bayern München vs CA Boca Juniors in Miami
  • CR Flamengo vs Chelsea FC in Philadelphia

Each of these matches is projected to draw over 50,000 fans, underscoring the tournament’s immense appeal.

Football for a Greater Cause

In addition to delivering elite football, the 2025 edition of the FIFA Club World Cup is contributing to a greater goal. As part of its USD 100 million fundraising drive for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, FIFA is donating $1 from every ticket sold. Launched in April 2025 by Gianni Infantino and Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans, the initiative aims to improve access to quality education and football programs for children worldwide.

A Tournament That’s More Than Football

The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 is more than a tournament, it’s a celebration of cultures, communities, and club pride on a global stage. With ticket sales approaching 1.5 million and millions more watching around the world, the event is redefining what’s possible for club football and the fans who power it.
