The National Council of Sports (NCS) has confirmed that 45 national sports federations and associations successfully submitted their registration applications by the 20 June 2025 deadline, meeting requirements under the National Sports Act 2023 and the newly enacted National Sports Regulations 2025.
However, six federations failed to comply and are now deemed non-compliant.
These include the Uganda Roll Ball Association, Association of Uganda University Sports, Uganda Ultimate Frisbee Association, Uganda Floorball Association, Uganda Deaf Sport Federation, and Uganda Body Building and Fitness Association.
With this development, the NCS will revoke their previously issued Certificates of Recognition.
This means they will no longer be legally recognized as governing bodies for their respective sports under Ugandan law.
The Council has now opened up the opportunity for new applicants to take over the management of these affected sports.
New promoters may apply for recognition, provided they meet all the legal criteria outlined under Schedule 2 of the National Sports Act.
This marks the first major compliance shake-up since the Act was passed in 2023, setting stricter accountability standards for sports governance in Uganda.
