“You Can’t Always Be Perfect” – Plenderleith Reflects on Seniors Open Win

2025 Johnnie Walker Uganda Open seniors champion David Plenderleith credited his victory to a strong opening nine holes at the two-day tournament held at the par-70 Lugazi Hills Golf and Country Club.

Plenderleith shot an 83 gross on day one to take the lead and carried that momentum into the final round, finishing with a 25-over-par total of 167 to secure a three-stroke win.

John Muchiri, Tony Kisadha, and Michael Cleave all put up strong performances, but Plenderleith’s early advantage proved decisive.

“I played well on the front nine. Despite slip-ups on the last three holes, I understand you can’t always be perfect, and that’s the nature of the game,” he said.

The tournament continues on Thursday with the ladies’ open, followed by the amateurs next week. The professionals will close out the event from September 9 to 13.
