Manchester United have signed Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for an initial €21 million (£18.1 million).
The 23-year-old joins on a five-year contract, in a move aimed at resolving the club’s recent goalkeeping issues.
Lammens had a standout season in Belgium, making 173 saves—more than any other goalkeeper in Europe’s top 10 leagues.
He also excelled in “goals prevented,” saving nearly 19 more goals than an average goalkeeper would.
United’s Director of Football, Jason Wilcox, praised Lammens as “an excellent young goalkeeper with great potential.”
The signing of Lammens, who is yet to win a senior cap for Belgium, signals a shift away from pursuing more experienced options like Emiliano Martinez.
