Los Angeles secured a 4-1 victory over Real Salt Lake on Wednesday, thanks to a hat-trick from forward Son Heung-min.
The South Korea international, who recently joined LAFC after a 10-year career with Tottenham, scored twice in the opening 16 minutes and completed his first MLS treble in the 82nd minute.
This brings his tally to five goals in six games since his move to the US last month.
“It’s amazing to get my first hat-trick in the MLS,” said Son. “I’m very happy and grateful to everyone.”
The scoring was completed by teammate Denis Bouanga, who not only assisted Son’s third goal but also became the club’s all-time leading scorer with 94 goals, surpassing Carlos Vela.
Bouanga, who has 19 goals this season, now sits third in the MLS golden boot race behind Sam Surridge (21) and Lionel Messi (20).
The win lifts LAFC to fourth in the Western Conference with six regular-season games remaining. The team will honor their first-ever signing, Carlos Vela, in their upcoming home game against Real Salt Lake on Sunday.
