McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has lost the Formula 1 championship lead to teammate Lando Norris following a series of difficult races, leaving him 24 points behind with only three rounds remaining.
Piastri, who once held a 34-point lead after the Dutch GP, revealed his recent dip is due to a persistent “trend” requiring him to drive his car “very, very differently” across the last three events (Austin, Mexico, Brazil).
“The last three weekends in particular are a similar trend,” Piastri said. “When the way you’ve driven for the whole season has worked so well, it’s difficult to go away from that.”
He cited bizarre tire behavior and low grip conditions in Brazil as examples of the factors making things difficult, adding that he must now “work on how I can adapt to that better” to keep his title hopes alive.
The 2025 season will conclude with races in Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.
