Uganda Lacrosse has strengthened its international ambitions after confirming new developments around the national team and the domestic league.
The Uganda Lacrosse Association, a full member of World Lacrosse and recognized by both the National Council of Sports and the Uganda Olympic Committee, says its focus is now firmly on qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The sport, introduced in Uganda in 2009 by Fields of Growth International, has grown through community clubs, school competitions, and regional events.
The Lacrosse Cranes have already featured in three World Lacrosse Championships, placing 34th in Denver in 2014, 40th in Netanya in 2018, and 29th in San Diego in 2023.
Officials believe consistent competition is central to Uganda’s path toward upcoming World Lacrosse Olympic Qualifiers.
ULA President Twesiime Liberty says expanding training programs, growing the league, and strengthening school pathways through USSSA and FEASSA events will determine how fast Uganda closes the gap on established nations.
