Muhammed Shaban scores twice as KCCA FC beat NEC

Coming into Wednesday fixture on the back of 1-0 home defeat to Kitara last Friday, KCCA fc were much aware of the threat posed by NEC that were 2-0 winners in the first round at the same venue.

KCCA FC took the lead in the 10th minute when NEC’s Ibrahim Kiyemba failed to clear Joao Gabriel’s long ball, allowing Muhammed Shaban to score.

Ashraf Mugume had a chance to double the lead in the 25th minute but his effort was wide of the mark.

In the 41st minute, Shaban capitalized on NEC’s defensive error as Shamir Kimwero’s back pass was intercepted, for Shaban to score his 11th goal of the season & go joint-top of the marksmen’s log.

The first half ended 2-0 in favour of the visitors KCCA FC.

In the second half, KCCA FC continued their impressive performance, with João Gabriel, picking up his 2nd season assist, setting up Ashraf Mugume for the third goal, which he powered past Samson Kirya to score for the Kasasiro Boys.

NEC finished a man less after Atendere Geriga was given matching orders after receiving a second yellow card for a foul on Saidi Mayanja.

The win takes KCCA FC to 9th place with 26 points while NEC remain 4th with 31 points.

Shaban, meanwhile, joins Soltilo Bright Stars captain Nelson Senkatuka as the league joint top scorers with 11 goals.
