Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has strongly endorsed Wilfred Ndidi to be named Nigeria’s permanent captain for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Speaking on his podcast, Oliseh insisted the Besiktas midfielder already commands the players’ respect, noting, “Ndidi is already the captain anyway because he captained the last game.”
Oliseh stressed that the captain must adopt a proactive style, urging them to personally call teammates and encourage early arrival to camp, a leadership method he and late Stephen Keshi exemplified.
He also advised coach Eric Chelle to be “a little bit stubborn” in resisting external influence over team selection, insisting that the manager must stand his ground to succeed.
Nigeria is drawn into Group C alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania for the tournament.
