Ugandan athletes are in the final stages of preparation for the 2026 World Cross Country Championships, with the national team completing an intensive residential camp in Kapchorwa ahead of the January 10 event in Tallahassee, Florida.
The runners have been based at Trinity Bible College in Kapchorwa for over a month, fine tuning their conditioning and race sharpness as the countdown to the global showpiece enters its final days. The high altitude setting has once again been central to Uganda’s build up as the athletes prepare to compete against the world’s best on American soil.
Uganda will line up with a full team across all categories, including Senior Men, Senior Women, Under 20 Men, Under 20 Women and the Mixed Relay. The broad representation reflects the country’s sustained rise as a force in international distance running and its ambition to challenge for medals across the board.
All eyes will be on Jacob Kiplimo, who returns as the defending champion with a chance to make history.
The Ugandan star is targeting a third straight world cross country title, a feat that would place him alone as the first athlete to achieve three consecutive victories in the championship’s history.
