Uganda’s women’s national cricket team, the Victoria Pearls will today, March 7th, start the journey towards gold at the All-Africa Games. The team is scheduled to face off against Kenya in their opening match.
Placed in Group B alongside Kenya, Zimbabwe and Rwanda, the Victoria Pearls are determined to make their mark in the tournament.
Captain Consy Aweko expressed the team’s confidence, saying, “We have faced Kenya before and know them well. We want to make sure we get the first win against them.”
The Victoria Pearls come into this tournament on the back of an intensive training camp in India, where they played five T20 matches against select sides.
Aweko emphasised, “We are well-prepared, and we won’t take anything for granted.”
The Victoria Pearls take on Kenya at 4:50 PM East Africa Time. They will then face Zimbabwe on March 8 and Rwanda on March 10 all at 4:50 PM.
