Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior says his team could move their pre-match huddle away from the centre circle to avoid further controversy.
The ritual, introduced by injured captain Reece James, drew criticism during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Newcastle when referee Paul Tierney was surrounded as Chelsea gathered around the ball. Officials had warned the club it risked confrontation with opponents.
Rosenior called the debate “blown out of proportion” but confirmed he will meet PGMOL this week.
“We don’t want to antagonise and bring more noise on ourselves,” he said ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with PSG, where Chelsea must overturn a 5-2 deficit.
PSG coach Luis Enrique dismissed the issue, saying respect had been shown. Former referee Darren Cann, however, labelled the incident “strange” in half a century of watching football.
