Uganda face Namibia A in the third T20 today at the High Performance Oval in Windhoek, with the five-match white-ball series level at 1-1 following a commanding response from the Cricket Cranes in game two.
The visitors head into the contest with momentum after a seven-wicket win on March 19, where they chased down 137 with 12 balls to spare. Captain Riazat Ali Shah anchored the innings with an unbeaten 46, while Gerald Olipa’s 39 and Simon Ssesazi’s 20 provided a stable platform at the top of the order.
That performance marked a clear shift from the opening defeat, particularly in Uganda’s approach with both bat and ball. The bowling unit, led by Henry Ssenyondo’s 3 for 21 and supported by Kenneth Waiswa’s 2 for 22, applied early pressure and restricted Namibia A to a below-par total.
Head coach Steve Tikolo said after the win: “We learnt a lot from our shortcomings yesterday. The bowlers didn’t sting and the batters had too many dot balls. We took care of the processes today. The bowlers were incisive, and the batters — especially the top order — set it up well. The captain was there at the end to seal it.”
Uganda will look to carry those improvements into today’s fixture, with focus again on early breakthroughs and maintaining strike rotation during the chase. The top order’s ability to build partnerships and reduce dot balls remains central to their approach.
Namibia A, meanwhile, will aim to respond after being outplayed in the second match despite resistance from Dylan Leicher and Zane Green, who both made 34 in a brief middle-order recovery.
A win today would give either side control of the series heading into the remaining fixtures, which include another T20 and two 50-over matches.
