Danny Welbeck struck twice as Brighton beat Liverpool 2-1 at the Amex, dealing a major blow to the Reds’ Champions League hopes.
Liverpool, missing Mohamed Salah and Alisson Becker, also lost Hugo Ekitike to injury early on.
Welbeck opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Milos Kerkez punished Lewis Dunk’s error to level.
But the 35-year-old forward sealed victory with a confident finish in the 56th minute, his 11th league goal of the season.
The defeat leaves Liverpool fifth, two points behind Aston Villa, while Brighton boosted their own European push.
