A retrial into the death of football legend Diego Maradona has begun in San Isidro, Buenos Aires province.
Seven members of his medical team, including doctor Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, face charges of culpable homicide over allegations they failed to provide proper care after his brain surgery in November 2020.
They deny wrongdoing but could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
The first trial collapsed last year after a judge was accused of misconduct. Around 100 witnesses, including Maradona’s daughters, are expected to testify before July.
Maradona, famed for the “Hand of God” goal at the 1986 World Cup, died aged 60 from heart failure. His death prompted three days of national mourning in Argentina.
