John Korir and Sharon Lokedi defended their Boston Marathon crowns in style, delivering a Kenyan double at the 130th edition.
Korir, 29, smashed Geoffrey Mutai’s 2011 course record with 2:01:52, pulling clear after 20 miles. Tanzania’s Alphonce Simbu took silver in 2:02:47, edging Kenya’s Benson Kipruto.
Lokedi, 32, claimed her third major marathon win in 2:18:51, breaking away late to finish 44 seconds ahead of Loice Chemnung. Mary Ngugi-Cooper placed third.
“It felt like a race back home,” Korir said. Lokedi added: “Be patient, be humble, you can do this.”
Kenya’s dominance turned Boston 2026 into a showcase of East African brilliance.
