The Guinness-powered Mwiri League returns to Legends Grounds in Lugogo this Saturday, April 25, with cricket taking centre stage on Matchday 4 as organisers line up a mix of sport, music and lifestyle entertainment.
This weekend’s outing will shine the spotlight on cricket, a sport with deep roots at Busoga College Mwiri, long regarded as one of Uganda’s respected cricket hubs.
Alumni are expected to return to the crease to revive old rivalries and showcase their batting and bowling skills in what organisers are billing as an action-packed day on and off the field.
Defending cricket champions Buliti Cohort, who won last season’s competition, will be among the hosts of the day alongside Ruga Ruga, Lukambwe and Vuyos United.
Fans can also look forward to several cricket clashes featuring teams including Kombora, Suici, Vuyos, Makaya, Kanga, Shadow, Destroyers, Lukambwe, Winter and Divers as they battle for supremacy.
Away from the sporting action, the event will carry an “Afropiano Vibes” theme with a star-studded entertainment package designed to keep revellers on their feet.
Ugandan music star Spice Diana will headline the performances with a catalogue of hits including Siri Regular, Onsanula and Kwata Wano.
Ahead of the event, Spice Diana said fans should expect an electrifying performance, adding that she is ready to bring her very best to the experience.
She will be joined by Matereo Music, while Sakata Band will usher in the main show with a live-band performance.
Hosting duties will be handled by Olga Dax alongside veteran hype man and Busoga College Mwiri old boy MC Kats, who is expected to bring his trademark energy.
On the decks, DJ Pius will lead a lineup of DJs set to keep the party going throughout the day.
Guinness Brand Manager Denise Nazzinda said the brand remains committed to elevating the Mwiri League experience by blending sport, culture and premium lifestyle experiences.
“The return of the Mwiri League has once again created a unique platform for connection, celebration and unforgettable experiences. At Guinness, we are proud to be part of this journey, bringing together sport, entertainment and lifestyle in a way that resonates with our consumers. I believe Matchday 4 will be bigger and better as we continue to elevate the festivities and create memorable moments for everyone attending,” Nazzinda said.
Organisers added that football will also feature among the day’s activities, although it will play a secondary role to the main cricket action and entertainment lineup.
