Uganda head coach Paul Put has named a 28-man provisional squad for next month’s friendlies in Marrakech as preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations intensify.
The Cranes face Tanzania on June 5 and Madagascar on June 8, fixtures Put described as vital tests ahead of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers later this year.
The squad mixes seasoned internationals with emerging talent, including Uganda Premier League standouts. Key names are Allan Okello, Travis Mutyaba, Steven Mukwala, and Bobosi Byaruhanga, joined by players from SC Villa, KCCA FC, Vipers SC, and NEC FC.
Put said the matches will help assess squad depth and readiness. He confirmed injuries ruled out Toby Sibbick and Elio Capradossi, while Uche Ikpeazu missed selection due to limited game time. Youngsters James Bogere, Allan Oyirwoth, and Richard Basangwa were included to gain experience as Uganda builds toward co-hosting AFCON 2027 with Kenya and Tanzania.
