Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have reportedly decided to part ways with head coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert despite the Belgian leading the club to league success last season.
The Kitende-based side has chosen not to continue with Minnaert following the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign, during which he guided the Venoms to an eighth league title.
The Belgian joined Vipers with a decent track record across Africa. Before moving to Uganda, he enjoyed a title-winning spell with Fassell FC in Liberia, leading the club to league glory during the 2024/25 season.
His previous achievements also include steering Al-Ittihad Tripoli to the Libyan league championship in the 2020/21 campaign.
Minnaert has built a reputation as one of the continent’s most experienced coaching figures, having worked in numerous countries throughout Africa and Europe. His managerial career has featured stints with Spain’s Union Estepona CF and CD San Roque, as well as African clubs including Djoliba AC, AFC Leopards, Rayon Sports, AS Kaloum Star, Mukura Victory Sports and Black Leopards.
His departure leaves Vipers facing a crucial decision as they begin planning for the new season, where they will be tasked with defending their league crown while also competing in other domestic and continental competitions.
With preparations for the upcoming campaign already underway, attention will now shift to identifying Minnaert’s successor and the direction Vipers choose to take in their pursuit of continued success.
