Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay, a two-time world champion, has been suspended for four months after testing positive for Letrozole, a banned substance under WADA rules.
The 29-year-old, who won the 5,000m in 2022 and the 10,000m in 2023, argued the drug was prescribed for a medical condition and submitted supporting documents.

While World Athletics confirmed her treatment met TUE standards, her retroactive exemption request was rejected.
The AIU ruled the sanction appropriate given her prompt admission and medical evidence. Her ban runs from 1 June to 30 September 2026, leaving her sidelined after last competing in October.
