The much-anticipated Centenary international friendly between Zanzibar and Uganda has been cancelled, the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) has confirmed.
The match, scheduled for 11 June 2026 at the New Amaan Complex, will not take place after government health precautionary directives affected event approval and hosting arrangements.
In official communication to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), ZFF stressed the decision was beyond its control but reaffirmed its commitment to strong football ties between the two nations.
“The decision was beyond our control. We value our friendship and remain committed to rescheduling the match soon,” ZFF stated.
The fixture had been expected to serve as a key celebratory encounter in the region’s football calendar, offering both teams valuable international preparation. With the cancellation confirmed, focus now shifts to alternative dates as both federations explore rescheduling options.
