SC Villa’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League title run-in was dealt a blow on Sunday after they were held to a 1-1 home draw by Soltilo Bright Stars at Wankulukuku.
It was a setback to the record 16-time champions who aimed at closing down on leaders BUL FC, Vipers SC and Kitara FC in first, second and third place respectively.
The visitors took the lead through Ashraf Mulindi after an hour played before Patrick Jonah Kakande equalised six minutes later.
It’s a third straight draw for Villa who will hope to make amends when they visit Gaddafi on Thursday.
Villa maintain their fourth place on the 16-team table with 42 points now after 23 games, four below leaders BUL who have played a game more.
Bright Stars FC are 10th with 29 points in 23 games.
Action returns on Tuesday as holders Vipers host Maroons at the St Mary’s stadium in Kitende in a night affair to be broadcast live on Sanyuka Prime.
The Venoms who are just a point behind the league leaders with a game in hand are fresh from a motivating 2-0 away win over third-placed title challengers Kitara FC.
