Erik ten Hag Slams Media Criticism, Defends Team’s FA Cup Final Progress

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has lashed out at media comments regarding his team’s progress to the FA Cup final, labelling them as “embarrassing” and “a disgrace.” Despite squandering a three-goal lead against Coventry City, Ten Hag defended his team’s performance, emphasizing the importance of results in top-level football.

Acknowledging the luck involved in winning the match through penalties, Ten Hag highlighted the achievement of reaching the final for the second consecutive season. He attributed the lapse in concentration to various factors, including tactical compromises due to player absences and the necessity for a full squad to maintain control in such situations.

Addressing Antony’s reaction to the shootout win, Ten Hag attributed it to provocation but admitted that the player’s response was inappropriate. He contrasted Antony’s reaction with Harry Maguire’s sportsmanlike behaviour and acknowledged Coventry’s commendable comeback effort.

Ten Hag’s comments come amid a flurry of scrutiny following Manchester United’s rollercoaster journey to the FA Cup final.
