Newly-Promoted Lugazi Appoint Sadick Sempigi as New Head Coach

Newly-promoted StarTimes Uganda Premier League side Lugazi FC have unveiled Sadick Sempigi as their new head coach for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

The announcement, made on the club’s official platforms on Tuesday evening sees Sempigi take the mantle at Lugazi, who secured promotion to the top-flight after finishing runners-up in the recently concluded FUFA Big League season.

The coach then expressed his delight in joining the Lugazi-based side on his his official X platform, stating that he’s focused and committed to contributing to the team’s success.

“Am thrilled to join Lugazi and be part of this ambitious and passionate club. Am focused on bringing my best to this club and committed to working hard, contributing to teams success and achieving great things together.” He said

Sempigi, a seasoned tactician with a wealth of experience in Ugandan football, has been part of the technical team for the Buweekula side in the ongoing Masaza Cup tournament.

Before that, he was the head coach of Jinja North United, and parted ways with them in December last year, following their relegation from the FUFA Big League before the final round.

The 45-year-old coach has also worked with clubs like Kampala University, Onduparaka and Mbarara City

Lugazi’s decision to appoint Sempigi as their new head coach comes after the departure of their former coach Richard Makumbi, with Gerald Efit serving as the club’s interim manager till the end of the season

With Sempigi’s vast experience and proven track record in Ugandan football, Lugazi will be hoping that his appointment will provide the necessary guidance and expertise to help the club navigate the UPL season and establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the top division.
