Fred Amaku has showered Kitara fans with praise following his move from Maroons to the Hoima-based outfit.
The striker signed a one-year contract with the Royals that will see him ply his trade for the Stanbic Uganda Cup winners at least until the end of the forthcoming season.
“I love to play before passionate fans and the ones at my new club will inspire me more,” Amaku was quoted by the club website.
“I think this is a step further for me to continue achieving the best I can as a player and this is an incredible opportunity to show what I can do at Kitara,” he added.
Kitara faithful were arguably the best last season, filling the Masindi Stadium to capacity and also backing their team on the road.
He joined Kitara as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with the Prison Warders and he managed 25 goals and seven assists in 72 appearances for the Luzira-based side.
He is the fifth confirmed new signing for head coach Brian Ssenyondo after defender Ronald Otti from BUL FC, his former Maroons teammate David Ndihabwe, and midfielders Titus Ssematimba and Marvin Nyanzi from Wakiso Giants FC.
Amaku scored 12 goals in the UPL last season and only the top scorer Muhammad Shaban of KCCA FC with 17, Kitara’s Denis Omedi on 15, former Express FC’s Isaac Waigona with 14, and Soltilo Bright Stars FC’s Nelson Senkatuka on 13 scored more.
He is expected to fill the void that could be left by Omedi who is sought after by a couple of other clubs but should the latter stay, they will form a deadly striking partnership.
Kitara finished fourth as a newly promoted side last season and will be hoping to go a step better next season in addition to their participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.
