KCCA Football Club will be out to register back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they take on UPDF FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The Kasasiro Boys have been inconsistent to date, winning three of their opening five games but with all the victories coming either side of a loss.
In their last game, KCCA struggled to break down Blacks Power in the first half before turning the corner on their way to a comfortable 4-1 win. KCCA FC head coach Morley Byekwaso hopes his side can perform better in the opening period, this time round.
“We started slowly against Blacks Power and it is something we would want to address against UPDF who are a stubborn side. Byekwaso said in his pre-match press conference.
The Kasasiro Boys have a decent recent record against UPDF FC having not lost to them since 2017. In that period, KCCA have won four and drawn the other two games. However, Byekwaso says tomorrow’s game has nothing to do with history.
“We have had a good record against them (UPDF) but that is all in the past and we need to be the best side to walk away with the points on the day.”
Byekwaso’s side has scored nine goals this season but let in as many as seven already. Against a side that usually scores at home, KCCA will have to strike a balance between attack and defense so as to win the contest.
KCCA will be without Brian Majwega who is down with typhoid. Striker Shaban Muhammad is also ruled out of the game with fitness concerns. Brian Kayanja, Filbert Obenchan and Hassan Jurua are also still injured while the duo of Faisal Wabyoona and Haruna Lukwago are with the Uganda Hippos side currently in Sudan at the CECAFA U20 AFCON Zonal Qualifiers.
