The National Ludo team, Uganda Doves has been flagged off to represent Uganda at the world ludo championship due in Dubai & Nepal starting this Sunday.
The 9-member team that includes one female player was seen off by the National Council of Sports in Lugogo.
The team earlier this year failed to take part in the Africa individual Ludo Championship in South Africa due to lack of finances.
This came after securing qualification for the Ludo world cup that was held in September.
The story has changed for the better this time round with the team receiving a reported 70 million shillings support from government through the National Council of Sports.
South Africa and Uganda are the two African representatives in this year’s edition due to start on Sunday in Nepal and this will be the first time Uganda participates in Ludo world cup.
The team captained by Uzaifa Matovu will be making their debut at the global showpiece.
Other players on the team include Henry Mayanja, Emmanuel Mubiru, Beth Nagadya and Jimmy Mulondo among others.
Uganda is pooled in group A alongside Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Pakistan.
The Group stages will be played in Nepal while the Semifinals & finals will be played in Dubai.
