Allan Okello scored with 10 minutes to play as KCCA FC held off Gaddafi at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
The playmaker fired in from just outside the area when the game looked headed for an unlikely stalemate.
Brian Majwega had earlier handed the host the lead inside two minutes when his low strike crept past Chrispas Kusiima in the Gaddafi goal.
After Rogers Mato and Kagawa Ssenoga failed to convert two good chances, Gaddafi who had looked pedestrian for mush of the first half levelled matters through Alex Kitata at the stroke of halftime.
KCCA dominated much of the second half with Shaban Muhammad and Charles Lwanga both missing half chances.
On 80 minutes, Okello produced a moment of magic as he fired in from outside the area to ensure KCCA win the contest.
The victory takes Morley Byekwaso’s side into third on the standings with 19 points, two behind leaders Wakiso Giants.
For Gaddafi, they slip to 9th having gathered 12 points, so far.
In their next fixtures, KCCA will be away to Onduparaka while Gaddafi host Vipers SC.
In the other games played on Tuesday, Vipers beat SC Villa 2-0, Bright Stars took care of BUL by the same scoreline, Maroons held URA FC to a 2-2 draw while Blacks Power edged UPDF 1-0.
