Ssenkatuka Joins Cranes CHAN Fold

Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovich has summoned Bright Stars Captain Nelson Ssenkatuka to the team that start preparations for the forthcoming CHAN tournament, on Thursday.

The striker who has scored seven League goals this season, was earlier snubbed from the initial 35-man squad that was announced on Tuesday.

Later on in the day, he went on to show his class with an assist to Emmanuel Peter Loki as Bright Stars stunned KCCA at Kavumba.

As the team start training on Thursday at Lugogo, FUFA has confirmed that Ssenkatuka will be part of the squad.

The snub left fans wondering after Ssenkatuka was the joint-leading scorer in the league.

Fred Amaku, also on seven, Express winger Allan Kayiwa, Yunus Sentamu, Alex Kitata and Karim Ndugwa were the other players left out of the squad.

The tournament competed for by local-based players, kicks off on January 13 2023 in Algeria.

Uganda are pitted in Group B alongside heavy weights DR Congo, Senegal and Ivory Coast.

The Cranes open their account against two-time winners DR Congo on Saturday, January 14.
