National Sports Forum Highlights Transparency in Government Funding for Sports

The quarterly National Sports Forum convened today at the Copper Chimney restaurant in Lugogo, bringing together stakeholders from various sports disciplines. The focus of the forum was on transparent distribution of 48 billion Ugandan shillings in government funding allocated to support multiple federations.

Dr. Bernard Ogwel, General Secretary of the National Council of Sports, emphasized the importance of transparency in fund distribution. He urged federation leaders to respect budget guidelines and ensure accountability.

A budget implementation matrix was presented at the forum, outlining strategic resource allocation for sports development across the country. The matrix guides infrastructure development, talent identification, training programs, and international participation.

The National Sports Forum aimed to foster collaboration and transparency among federation leaders, sports officials, and government representatives. The goal is to create an accountable sports ecosystem benefiting athletes and enthusiasts nationwide.

Uganda seeks excellence and international recognition in sports, making transparency crucial in fund management. The implementation matrix enables efficient utilization of resources for infrastructure, talent, and global performance.

The matrix provides federations with clear guidance, promoting transparency and accountability. Uganda aims to enhance its sporting infrastructure, nurture talent, and elevate athletes’ performance globally.

Stakeholders expressed commitment to transparency and accountability at the National Sports Forum. The ongoing dialogue and adherence to guidelines contribute to Uganda’s vision of producing world-class athletes and strengthening its international sports standing.
