2024 WAFCON Qualifiers: Crested Cranes Unveil Provisional Squad for Clash with Algeria

Uganda’s senior women’s football national team, known as the Crested Cranes, is gearing up for the 2024 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers, and their coach, Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi, has unveiled a preliminary squad consisting of 36 players.

In the first round of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers, Uganda is set to face Algeria in a two-leg encounter. The team’s preparations will commence on Wednesday, 6th September 2023, as they enter a residential camp at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

The first leg of this exciting encounter will take place on September 20th at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, Uganda. A week later, the return leg will be held in Oran.

Uganda is determined to make its mark on the continental stage by qualifying for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for the third time and securing a second successive appearance following their participation in Morocco in 2022.

The winner between Uganda and Algeria will move on to face either Burundi or Ethiopia in the final qualification stage.
