The Federation of Uganda Football Association has today mutually terminated the contract of Uganda Cranes Coach , Milutin Sredojević commonly known as Micho ending his second stint as the gaffer with the men’s national football team.
This comes just days after the Cranes failed to qualify for the AFCON 2023
The statement released by FUFA read, “Today, Thursday 14th September 2023, FUFA and Mr. Milutin Sredojevic agreed to mutually end the existing employment contract between the two parties.FUFA appreciates all efforts and commitment by Mr. Milutin during his period as Head coach of Uganda Cranes.
It is Our Game, It is Our Country”.
The Serbian coach, who had previously served as the Cranes’ coach twice, was dismissed exactly a week after Uganda failed to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations despite winning their last group game 2-0 against Niger.
Micho initially took on this role in 2013, departed in 2017 when he was replaced by Sebastian Desabre, and then returned to the position in July 2021. However, his tenure included a disappointing CHAN 2022 campaign that ended in Uganda’s elimination in the group stage. His final task was to lead Uganda to AFCON 2023 qualification, which he couldn’t achieve as the Cranes finished third in a group featuring Niger, Algeria, and neighboring Tanzania.
