Peace Proscovia: Inspiring Growth in She Cranes’ Young Players

The She Cranes’ preparations for the upcoming Vitality Netball Nations Cup received a massive boost on Wednesday with the arrival of UK-based duo Haniisha Mohamed and Peace Proscovia.  The tournament kicks off on Saturday January 20th at the OVO Arena Wembley in London.

Former captain Peace Proscovia, who has been appointed as the assistant to coach Fred Mugerwa, expressed her commitment to nurturing the growth of the younger players, especially through the Vitality Nations Cup. Proscovia emphasized her dedication to lifting and improving the skills of the talented Ugandan players participating in the tournament.

“I am honored to be here with the team. My purpose has always been to uplift the young girls and better their skills. Uganda has exceptionally skilled players, and their talents need to be showcased at such tournaments. I am here to help them grow,” affirmed Peace Proscovia.

Having replaced Noordin Kato as the team’s assistant coach, Proscovia’s addition is seen as positive by Coach Mugerwa, despite her appointment being made by the normalization committee. Proscovia, a two-time African champion and former captain of the She Cranes, has led Uganda to two separate Netball World Cup championships.

In her playing career, Proscovia featured for Loughborough Lightning in England, Sunshine Coast Lightning in Australia, and Surrey Storm in the United Kingdom.

Following their recent 2-1 victory over Wales in the test series from January 10th to 13th, the She Cranes are now focusing on the upcoming Vitality Nations Cup. The tournament will see them face hosts England, New Zealand, and Australia at the OVO Arena Wembley in London and the First Direct Arena in Leeds.
