Peace Kabasweka claimed her second Entebbe Ladies Open title and added yet another chapter to her career in golf. The tournament’s 14th edition came to an end on Saturday.
Kabasweka, who was also the champion in 2022, confirmed her supremacy on the course with a score of 17 over par 230 after three rounds of the Ladies Group A main event (silver category).
This victory not only demonstrated Kabasweka’s unique talent but also marked an important turning point in her career. Her recent successes, which include the Uganda Ladies Open that she won at Uganda Golf Club in Kampala last year, highlighted what a stellar campaign she has been having over the last few months.
Kabasweka dominated the whole tournament, with Meron Kyomugisha acting as the primary hunter from the first tee-off to the last putt. Meron ended with a final score of 19 over par 232, good for runner-up position.
Kabasweka fired a 3-over-par 74 to take a three-shot lead in the first round, while Meron finished in second place. After two rounds, Kabasweka held a two-shot lead and had a total gross score of 157 (15 over par) going into the final round. On the last day, Kabasweka and Meron both shot the best score of the main event—2 over par 73.
Thirteen strokes behind the winner, Harriet Kitaka came in third. Judith Komugisha finished fourth with an overall score of 248 after starting third on days one and two.
Gloria Mbaguta and Resty Nalutaaya shared fifth place at 150, and Cathy Kwagala placed seventh at 256. With 258, Janet Kabayonga took eighth place. Bernadette Musanabera came in ninth place with 259, and Lillian Koowe completed the top ten with 261.
Rukia Bako took first place in the two-day women’ bronze event (Group B) with a net score of 125, followed by Nancy Muro and Nancy Muraya in a tie for second place with 136.
