Uganda’s U20 national men’s football team, the Uganda Hippos, are set to commence their quest at the prestigious All-Africa Games, with a thrilling encounter against Nigeria awaiting them today.
Under the direction of head coach Moley Byekwaso, the Uganda Hippos will step onto the field at 11 PM East Africa Time to face off against the formidable Nigerian side.
This clash marks the beginning of what promises to be an exhilarating journey for the Ugandan squad in Group B, where they are joined by strong contenders Senegal and South Sudan.
Speaking ahead of the much-anticipated showdown, Dan Obote, the Leader of the Delegation for the Uganda Hippos at the All-Africa Games, expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and mindset. He reassured fans that the squad had travelled well, was in high spirits, and had acclimatized seamlessly to the tournament environment.
“The players are happy and have had some activation training. The players are very motivated as this is an opportunity for them to show what they can do,” Obote affirmed.
With Uganda winning a joint bid to host AFCON 2027, the Uganda Hippos are poised to make their mark on the continental stage, aiming to seize every opportunity to exhibit their prowess and passion for the beautiful game.
