KCCA FC’s Head Coach Abdullah Mubiru has stressed the need for players to be the key focuss as the excitement builds for the upcoming clash in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League against Vipers SC.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the game at St Mary’s Stadium, Mubiru emphasized the importance of allowing the players to take center stage right from the start.
“In a game of such temperament and magnitude, you would wish for the players to grab the show and headlines,” Mubiru asserted.
He stressed that the essence of football lies in the players’ performances on the field, not in discussions about coaches or match officials. Mubiru highlighted that fans and football lovers come to watch the players showcase their skills and abilities, not to focus on other distractions.
“No fan or football lover would wish to see coaches or match officials being talked about as the highlight of the game. The game belongs to the players, and people are there to watch them do their thing,” he added.
Addressing concerns about missing key players like Muhammad Shaban, who is suspended for the match, Mubiru remained optimistic, saying he sees this as an opportunity for other players to step up and make significant contributions to the team’s performance.
Reflecting on their previous encounter at Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, where KCCA FC secured a 3-1 victory, Mubiru reflected on the crucial role played by Shaban in that match.
Despite Shaban’s absence this time, Mubiru believes in the team’s ability to replicate their success and secure another important win.
A win for KCCA FC would take them to 29 points level with Express FC who lost 3-2 to Wakiso Giants.
