At the FUFA Technical Centre, 10-man Villa secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against BUL.
The game was marked by goalkeeper Jeans Braddy Wokorach’s amazing performance, as he made a crucial save from a penalty kick.
Proceedings started with a slow tempo, with both teams evenly matched. However, Villa managed to break the deadlock in the 40th minute when Ronald Sekiganda set up David Owori for the game’s only goal.
In the 57th minute, BUL were awarded a penalty after a handball by Gavin Kizito, who was subsequently shown a red card. However, Villa’s goalkeeper, Wokorach, proved to be the hero of the match as he saved the penalty, denying BUL the chance to equalize.
Despite being a player down, Villa held on to their lead until the final whistle, securing three valuable points.
With this win, Villa moved up to 4th position in the league table with 36 points, 7 points behind leaders Kitara but with two games in hand.
Meanwhile, BUL faced another setback as they succumbed to consecutive losses in the league, maintaining their position in second place with 39 points, trailing Kitara by a margin of four points.
BUL’s next challenge will be an away fixture against the leaders, Kitara, on March 29th.
On the other hand, Villa will be playing at home against Mbarara City in their next fixture, hoping to build on their momentum and climb further up the table.
