In an encounter at the All Africa Games, the Queen Cranes of Uganda secured their spot in the semifinals after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Ghana. The result means both teams advance to the semifinals.
Catherine Nagadya opened the score for the Queen Cranes with a brilliant goal in the 10th minute. However, Ghana responded around the half hour mark, with Abdulai Mukrama finding the back of the net in the 36th minute, to level the score.
Despite numerous attempts from both sides to break the deadlock, neither team could find the elusive winner, resulting in a stalemate at the final whistle.
With this draw, the Queen Cranes clinched the crucial point they needed to progress to the semifinals, securing the second spot in Group A with 5 points, just behind Ghana who topped the group with 7 points.
Looking ahead, the Queen Cranes are set to face Nigeria in the semifinals on Monday, March 18th, in what promises to be another intense showdown.
Meanwhile, in the other semifinal fixture, Ghana will go head-to-head against Senegal on the same day, for a place in the finals.
