Kabojja International School on Saturday 13th April hosted 25 schools for the Olympics Values Contests. The event focussed on the principles that govern the works and operations of the International Olympic Committee, of which the Uganda Olympic Committee is a part.
The three core values of Olympism—excellence, respect, and friendship—serve as the cornerstone upon which the Olympic movement fosters sport, culture, and education, aiming to cultivate a better world.
Annet Nakamya, the Chairperson of Olympic Values and Culture in the Uganda Olympic Committee, shared on the event:
“Our role as ambassadors is to ensure that we instil values in the sporting community and the world at large.”
She elaborated further, stating:
“We begin at this level with the hope that by instilling these values in children from a young age, they can apply them in their daily lives and on the field of play, which is essentially our operational domain.”
When asked about the significance of the event, Nakamya emphasized:
“For any institution to succeed, there must be values guiding its operations. These specific values contribute to a peaceful, progressive, and developmental sports sector.”
