Ahead of the Uganda Rugby Championship League regular season climax set for tomorrow, record winners Platinum Credit Heathens have today unveiled their away kit ahead of tomorrow’s Kyadondo derby against Toyota Buffaloes.
The kit, which features shades of blue and yellow, is the first away kit for the Mohammad Athio-coached side, who will look to complete the regular season unbeaten. A win will see the 16-time champions seal the top slot ahead of second-placed Jinja Hippos, having won nine and lost one of the ten games played so far. “Heathens have been playing for two years without an away kit, and receiving it at this time of the season is quite uplifting for the players.”
“With both Heathens and Buffaloes hailing from Kyadondo, it’s more about bragging rights. Buffaloes were at one point our feeder team before they became a senior team, so there will always be that battle for dominance,” Athio noted.
Club chairman Brian Tabaruka was upbeat following the unveiling, “It has been one that has been long coming, and we would like to see the team donning the kit and projecting our anchor sponsors and also giving the team options for the jersey they don for games.”
Captain Michael Wokorach says it’s an exciting time for the players, “I know the excitement of putting on a new jersey, and we will ensure that we get the much-needed win going into the championship playoffs.”
Feeder side Stallions also unveiled their first-ever kit as the junior team aim to win the reserve league title.
