The Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has announced the appointment of Abhay Sharma as the head coach of the country’s senior men’s national cricket team, the Cricket Cranes. Sharma, a distinguished figure in the cricketing world renowned for his brilliance and dedication, brings a wealth of experience from India to Uganda.
With a vision for transformative leadership, Sharma aims to elevate Uganda Cricket to unprecedented success through strategic planning and a deep understanding of the game. Expressing overflowing gratitude for the opportunity, Sharma has pledged to inspire greatness and nurture talent within the team.
Emphasizing a focus on building a lasting legacy, Sharma has highlighted the importance of youth development and talent cultivation to produce international cricketing stars. Committed to excellence, Sharma, armed with his coaching experience, vows to refine skills and instil a winning mentality in the team.
The appointment comes with a three-year contract, during which Sharma is poised to lead the Cricket Cranes to historic achievements including the ICC T20 World Cup. Jackson Kavuma, Uganda Cricket Association’s Honorary Secretary, praised Sharma’s leadership qualities and success record, heralding a new chapter for Ugandan cricket.
Sharma has already had two training sessions with the Cricket Cranes.
