FUFA Elections Are a Sham , I Will Not Contest for Presidency- Mujib Kasule

Former Uganda Cranes player and Proline FC Director, Mujib Kasule, has announced that he will not be contesting the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) top position. This decision comes after his previous attempts to run for the position in 2017 and 2021 were met with disqualification and allegations of foul play in the nomination process.

In an interview on NBS Sport This Evening on Monday, Mujib was asked by host Andrew Kabuura if he had plans to contest for the third time, to which he replied, “The FUFA election as it is right now is a sham, and anybody would be a fool to attempt it the way it is right now.” He added, “You can’t make it because they are telling you to get ready, but how do you get ready since their campaigns are starting? The rules and regulations that are in place cannot make you get nominated.” He also stated, “To get signatures to get nominated, apart from people who are directly paid by FUFA, would be a waste of time for anybody thinking about it because it is already locked.”

Mujib expressed his willingness to contest the position if FIFA intervenes and rectifies the electoral process in Uganda, which they have acknowledged is flawed in 2022. However, for now, he has decided not to pursue the position.

This announcement comes as Namboole Stadium prepares to host a doubleheader test match between KCCA, Villa, and Vipers,BUL on Wednesday at 4 pm and 7 pm respectively.
