Sheffield United Considering Release of Mali International Ismaila Coulibaly Amid Summer Overhaul

Sheffield United is reportedly contemplating releasing midfielder Ismaila Coulibaly from his contract during the upcoming summer transfer window as part of a broader squad overhaul ahead of the Championship campaign.

Coulibaly, a Mali international, arrived at Bramall Lane in 2020 but struggled to secure regular playing time under former manager Chris Wilder, leading to a loan stint at Belgian club Beerschot. During his time at Beerschot, Coulibaly amassed valuable experience, featuring in 44 matches and netting five goals across all competitions.

Despite his international credentials, Coulibaly does not feature prominently in Sheffield United’s plans for the upcoming season in the Championship. Currently on loan at AIK Fotboll in Sweden, the midfielder has made eight appearances for the club.

Notably, AC Milan expressed interest in Coulibaly following his impressive performances at Beerschot, with a reported bid of £12.9m being swiftly rejected by Sheffield United.

The Blades are also facing departures in other areas, with goalkeepers Wes Foderingham and Adam Davies set to leave as free agents. As the club prepares for a summer of change, it seeks to bolster its squad for the Championship, with links to players like Rotherham United’s Viktor Johansson emerging.
