Uganda Woodball Federation’s BLB Woodball League Thrives in Kisubi

The Uganda Woodball Federation (UWBF) successfully orchestrated the 2nd outing of the BLB Woodball League, a testament to the sport’s burgeoning popularity within the region. Held at the serene campus of University of Kisubi in Entebbe, the event drew widespread attention and participation, underscoring the growing significance of woodball in Uganda’s sports landscape.

Presided over by UWBF President, Mr. Paul Mark Kayongo, the outing served as a platform for both seasoned veterans and aspiring athletes to showcase their talents. The enthusiastic response was evident with an impressive turnout of 11 Men’s Teams and 10 Women’s Teams, each eager to demonstrate their prowess on the woodball court.

Individual excellence was on display as competitors vied for top honors in various categories. Among the standout performers in the Men’s Individuals category were Tonny Ssekyene from KIU, Agaba Moses representing Kampala University, and Kedi Thomas hailing from Stroke Woodball Club. Their skillful maneuvers and strategic play captivated spectators throughout the event.

Similarly, the Women’s Individuals category witnessed fierce competition, with athletes such as Mukamarinda Alvera from Ndejje University, Babirye Nalwoga representing Unik, and Zawedde Lillian from Kampala University leaving their mark with exceptional performances.

In the Doubles events, Ssenteza Aloysius & Bukenya Hillary from Unik showcased their chemistry and coordination, securing victories in 5 out of 7 matches in the Men’s Doubles category. Meanwhile, Mirembe Sanyu & Nahurira Joan from Ndejje University exhibited unparalleled teamwork, clinching victories in all 8 matches they contested in the Women’s Doubles category.

Leading the pack in the Men’s division were Prisons with 18 points, closely followed by Stroke with 16 points and KIU with 15 points. In the Women’s division, Ndejje University emerged as the frontrunners with 18 points, trailed by Ministry of Public Service with 16 points and Kampala University with 15 points.
