The stage is set for a gripping encounter as Kitara Football Club and Pajule Lions FC clash in the semi-final return leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, both teams vying for their debut appearance in the tournament final.
In the first leg held at Masindi last month, Kitara secured a 3-1 victory, with goals from Okwalinga Solomon, Denis Omedi, and Frank Tumwesigye. However, Martin Wokorach’s goal for Pajule Lions injected hope into their camp, setting the stage for an intense rematch at the Pajule Primary School grounds.
Kirara’s Head coach, Brian Ssenyondo, acknowledged the resilience of Pajule Lions, emphasizing the need for his team to maintain their performance to secure advancement to the final. Despite their 3-1 lead from the first leg, Ssenyondo recognizes the character and determination of Pajule Lions, anticipating a challenging encounter.
In team news, Kitara face injury setbacks with George Senkaaba, Ibrahim Magandaazi, and Jude Ssemugabi ruled out of the crucial fixture. However, Donato Okello returns from suspension, bolstering their lineup for the decisive clash.
The winner on aggregate will face NEC FC in the final, scheduled for May 25 at a venue yet to be confirmed.
