Kitara FC made their historic maiden qualification to the Stanbic Uganda Cup final after eliminating third division side Pajule Lions 4-1 on aggregate at this season’s semi-final.
This achievement holds special significance to Paul Mucureezi, who will be competing in his sixth Uganda Cup final, the most for any player.
The Kitara FC midifielder has an impressive track record in the prestigious Stanbic bank-sponsored Cup.
While representing KCCA FC, Mucureezi faced SC Villa in the 2015 final.
In the 2017 season, still with KCCA FC, he played against Paidha Black Angels in Arua and went on winning his first double.
He also won it with Kasasiro boys in 2018 against Vipers SC in the final played in Bukedea.
In 2021, while with Vipers SC, he was part of the side that triumphed 8-1 over Bul FC before losing against the same side in the 2022 final.
The upcoming final between Kitara and NEC, scheduled for May 25th, will be historic as both clubs will be making their debut appearances in the Cup final.
Both Kitara and NEC were promoted to the Premier League from the FUFA Big League last season, with NEC making their debut season.
The winners of the Stanbic Uganda Cup receive a cash prize of Shs50 million and earn a ticket to the CAF Confederations Cup.
